I guess I should post, now that January is practically over. We had a lovely holiday up in Seattle; it was nice to spend a larger chunk of time up there visiting with friends and family. I got a lot of knitting stuff as presents of course, including an awesome book with patterns for all kinds of cute creatures, like a sunflower star, an octopus, a snail, an eggplant, the Loch Ness Monster, etc. R's present to me (which I requested) was a sweater cabinet he made for me. I knitted him a beer bottle and a snail. It was nice to have calm time with the family. Ryan's Aunt helped me sew a skirt too, which may help me get over my sewing phobia. We had breakfast with my Uncle on the way through Portland, but I didn't see my Mom at all, because she was in Mexico for 2 weeks.
Though we just saw them over the holidays, R's brother & his wife stopped by to visit on their way home from California last weekend, and we took them out to the Dellenbeck Dunes. The dogs were SO happy, but R's brother less so once he realized he lost one of the keys to their brand new car! We went back out to find the lost one in the rain the next morning; luckily R spotted it. Hooray!
My temporary position subbing for the ELL teacher ended at Christmas break. These first few weeks back I've been subbing 3 or 4 days a week, but last week was lazy, nothing but knitting, baking, & dyeing yarn, which is also addictive & fun. I use Easter egg tablets and food coloring. I feel like I haven't gotten anything done lately as far as knitting projects, because I'm working on big ones that take a long time to finish (hooded cardigan in thin yarn; a past-the-knee dress with long sleeves & turtleneck- wasn't well thought out: chunky yarn + horizontal stripes = unflattering! but it will be warm).
I'm doing a make-a-sweater-a-month thing this year, trying to finish 12 sweaters for myself in 2010. R will have to build another sweater cabinet next year! Of course I have a ton of other things I want to knit as well, a baby sweater for my friend's baby (due on my birthday!), and many of the little animals from my Christmas Present book.
I don't really feel I have anything much to say, but it's been long enough I knew I had to post. :)
